Study suggests pregnant women weight gain can lead to overweight kid

pregnancy weight gain According to a study, the standard weight gain during pregnancy need to be changed. Pregnancy weight gain may increase the chances of overweight kid. Women in the study who gained the recommended amount of weight ran four times the risk of having a child who was overweight at age 3, compared to women who gained less than the advised amount (From MSNBC.com).


So to avoid this problem, the pregnant woman should not gain more weight than the recommended weight. The guidelines on weight gain during pregnancy varies from woman to woman depending upon the woman weight before pregnancy as measured by a combination of her height and weight called the body-mass index.


The women with Norman BMI are advised to gain weight up 35 pounds and Women with a higher BMI, meaning they are heavier at a given height, get lower targets, while women with a lower BMI are given a higher range.
