Anti obesity pills give modest weight loss

According to a latest research, patients who use weight loss pills weight loss pills for getting rid of the extra fat lose only “Modest” amount of weight and many of them remain considerably obese or overweight (Via BBC News).


Weight loss pills like orlistat decreased weight by 5 kg or just 5 percent of total body weight which make their use totally unjustified as per guidelines. Fat loss pills are no way alternative for healthy living. Eating less and doing exercise is really important.


More than one billion people are overweight or obese worldwide which makes anti weight loss pills market really big. According to a calculation, approximately 1.2 billion was spent on the anti obesity pills in 2005.


The latest finding by professor Raj Padwal and his team suggests that in many cases these pills achieve very little in terms of weight loss. But it was not clear from this research, 5 to 10 percent of weight, which was reduced with weight loss pills, was enough for getting big health and survival benefits.

Hoodia pills does give encouraging results but no pill can give long term sustained weight mangement.
